At Small Cliffs Guiding we pride ourselves not only on being proficient and AMGA trained climbers, but also educators and teachers. We strive to hire and mentor staff who don’t just provide you with a cookie-cutter day, but who can adjust and change their methods or curriculum to meet you where you are at, and help you to achieve your goals. We know that climbing gear is expensive, especially gear for ice climbing or mountaineering. We know that buying gear for your first time is not realistic, and also having to pay more for rentals can be aggravating and cost-prohibitive. As such, we include climbing gear rentals in the price of all of our courses. We will never ask you to pay extra for technical gear, so rest assured we won’t surprise you will extra fees.

Trusting a Guide for a day (or more!) of climbing can be daunting prospect. At Small Cliffs we work hard to earn your trust and help you book with confidence. Our guides are trained by the American Mountain Guides Association and undergo regular in-house training. We are well versed in modern guiding technique and skills. We have the experience and knowledge to provide you with a day that meets, and often exceeds your expectations. We have local knowledge of where we climb, and we strive to be friendly, accessible, and open to all.

Such an amazing introduction to ice climbing! Andy explained the technique and basics in a really helpful way, and it was so nice to have him lead the routes so that I could just focus on practicing my technique and having fun on top rope. We got to climb some amazing ice, and I really felt like I was getting the hang of it by the end of the day!
